Autonomous Government
GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The General Assembly is the Reserve's highest political-administrative authority. It is made up of 20 representatives from each community. It has the responsibility of electing the Indigenous Council, distributing and executing the budget, and judging and sanctioning within the Reserve's jurisdiction.
COUNCIL OF ELDERS
Integrated by the leading traditional authorities from each community. The Council of Elders guard, interpret, and transmit the Law of Origin, the history, knowledge, uses, and customs of their cultures and territory.

CAÑO MOCHUELO INDIGENOUS COUNCIL
The Indigenous Council legally represents the Reserve, manages resources, and oversees the peaceful coexistence in the territory. It is comprised of the governor, the secretary, the commissioner, the treasurer and the council members. The attorney general is part of the council, but is elected in a separate vote and has no executive functions.

CAPTAINS AND ADVISORS
The captains and advisers are the local authorities of each community within the Reserve. They liaise with the indigenous council and other people and organizations that visit the communities. They ensure the security of the territory and oversee the various aspects of community organization. They are chosen according to the customs of each indigenous community.
